Every now and then you're faced with the situation where you absolutely need the copy of that document that you wrote up 2 days ago. Version Control solves this issue by keeping a list of all the different versions you've saved of a file. Despite an unappealing interface, the program manages to keep it simple, and the list view gives you simple access to your different versions of a file. You can create a watch list of important files and order them according to the date modified or size.
The way to distinguish different versions will be by adding notes to each of them. This doesn't necessarily help your work flow though and more than once you'll find yourself just browsing through the different versions randomly to find the correct one.
An original idea, but only if on your side you keep your different versions rigorously organised and make sure you write up notes to differentiate them.
